How to Prep Your Baywood Greens Home for Winter

Posted by Baywood Blog Team

Snow has yet to fall heavily here at Baywood Greens, but that doesn’t mean your home shouldn’t be ready for it! The best time to prepare your home for winter and winter weather is before it actually happens. Keeping you and your family safe this winter is our top priority, so check out some tips on how to prep your Baywood Greens home for winter this season.

Ready to Go

One of the best ways to prepare for winter weather is to have everything you need ready and accessible. Make sure that any snow shovels and ice scrapers you have are in working order and ready to grab from your garage. To be even more prepared, keep a small shovel and scraper in your car (just in case!). This way, when it does snow, you’ll know exactly where to find all of the tools you’ll need.

Stay Warm

If you’re going to be shoveling snow or doing any work outside, you’ll want to be bundled up! Keep a basket of scarves, gloves, and hats by the door so you can grab them as you go. If you’re the type of person who is always misplacing gloves, stock up on several pairs and keep them in your car, purse, garage, etc.

Clean Up

Snow isn’t the only winter weather that can affect your home. Ice, sleet, and wind can also be harmful to your home. Clear any stray branches and leaves from your driveway and sidewalks, and make sure that your gutters are clean. Trim back any branches that could possibly break off and hit your home or vehicle.

Have Backups

Getting caught unawares is one of the worst things that can happen as a homeowner! To be as prepared as you can be this winter, have backups for some of the necessities. Always have extra batteries on hand for flashlights and electronic devices. In addition, purchasing an extra shovel or ice scraper can come in handy if one breaks. Also, you can never have enough blankets to stay warm and cozy on those chilly nights!

Shoes Off!

Tracking in snow, dirt, and wet boots is sure to be a pet peeve of any Baywood Greens homeowner! Make sure you have mats at all entrances of your home for people to wipe their shoes off when they come in. Keep some old towels handy for people to leave their wet snow boots and gloves!
