America's Most Desired Home Feature

Post in | Posted by Baywood Blog Team

The Demand Institute, a firm dedicated to uncovering and monitoring consumers’ demands, recently released the findings from their national survey polling over 10,000 households about their top housing needs.  The top-ranked concern came somewhat as a surprise to some, but not to us here at Baywood Greens!

The biggest housing concern according to the poll results was energy efficiency, and how one can make their home more so. In fact, over 70% of participating households pegged energy efficiency as highly important.  However, almost half that amount felt as though their homes actually met ‘green’ standards. This satisfaction gap was the biggest recorded in the study, bigger than consumer needs for updated kitchens and added storage space.

While the desire for energy efficiency in a home has roots in environmental preservation and sustainability, it also appeals to homeowners for its potential to aid in monthly energy costs.  This is easily an added benefit of utilizing green technologies in any home.

Here at Baywood Greens, we like to think green!  In fact, the new homes introduced to our community by Christopher Companies exemplify green building. EnergyStar Certified, these home models include innovative green technologies to better reduce environmental footprints, and when used correctly, could help homeowners save on energy costs.

Not to mention, a new Christopher Companies home at Baywood Greens is built standard with fully conditioned and insulated crawl spaces, an efficient water heater, Low “E” DP50 Windows, and an additional insulation package including R-15 fiberglass in walls and R-38 in attics. And, updated kitchens are ideal for both entertaining and efficiency with GE EnergyStar appliances. Best of all, homeowners can find these incredible ‘green’ features without sacrificing the stunning coastal home designs they desire – all at Baywood Greens!

If both energy efficiency and style are at the forefront of your checklist, you’ll be right at home in a new house in the Baywood Greens community!
